The standards for teachers implementing digital technology in their classrooms must first be very knowledgeable about the technology, how to use it, how to apply it to other technologies and how to apply it in the classroom where students can be inspired to learn, benefit from the technology and incorporate it into their learning instructions. There are a great number of digital learning resources such as videos, Hangout and voice threads. Teachers should be creative in selecting which digital technologies they select into their learning instruction.

ISTE Standards, (2008), explains, “Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. a. Demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations. b. Collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success and innovations. c. Communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital age media and formats d. Model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning”, (P.1-2).

Digital learning can be personalized and students can use digital learning by using their personal devices such as cell phones, tablets and computers. This greatly reduces the amount of notebooks students need to purchase and grants teachers more time to interact with their students.

Sheniger, (2014), reports, “All students in Mrs. Chellani’s -Calculus, and Algebra I courses viewed videos, utilized interactive apps on their cell phones, and employed the Socrative app on their cell phones to learn the content, understand its real-world applications, and foster and engage in class discussion”, (P.1).

One strategy I would use to implement digital technology in my classroom is to survey my students to see what electronic devices they have and see how often they use them. I would also ask what their favorite sites to go on and why are. Once I have obtained this information, I would begin to seek out that most favorable site and see if I am very knowledge about them and how they could be used in my classroom instructions. If I find that I am not knowledgeable then I would teach myself how to navigate through these sites and how to incorporate their programs into my class instructions.

The second strategy I would use would be to speak with all stakeholders including the children and get their input as to what programs they would like to use. This would give parents the opportunity to make suggestions, comments and give their input knowing that their children will be spending a great deal of time on their electronic devised completing their studies.

                                                          Applications

IPad

IPads can be used for students to learn while having fun using them. IPads have applications that can be used by students to learn math, science, and English as well as other subjects. IPads can operate in real time giving where when students are given assignments, the teacher can see their results of their assignments in real time. This is an amazing application that allows teachers to respond to the work that their students have completed and immediately give their student their feedback on their assignments. Teach Hub.com, (2016, explains, “Although the student learning side of things is great, this app really sets itself apart is how it can benefit us as educators. Teachers can capture results from student worksheets you assign within the app in real-time – allowing us to actively track progress, troubleshoot where necessary and differentiate learning. Even more, students may learn in real-time using the “built-in interactive Live Learning Center” via whiteboard”, (P.1).

IPad applications help motivate students to complete their assignments while keeping them engaged in their studies. Applications such as Dojo also capture the behaviors of students which can lead to awarding students for their positive behaviors or discussing their bad behavior with them or possibly their parents. Attendance can also be taken with IPad applications as well as host of other features.  TechHub.com, (2016), explains, “Specific positive reinforcement helps students develop a sense of purpose in the classroom, enhancing intrinsic motivation over time. By giving students visibility and data on their own behavior, Class Dojo makes class less disruptive and creates a more positive learning environment”, (P.1).

I choose this technology because most students have IPad. It makes great sense to incorporate learning instructions into devices that student enjoy, use and interact with the most.

I would integrate iPad into my professional practice by purchasing iPad for all of my employees. All employees could easily interact with other every department within the organization, receive work assignments, emails, sign in for work each day and virtually every aspect of the business could be accessed through the IPad device.

I would also have my employees sign for their IPad and establish company rules and guidelines for its use and establish confidentiality rules for using it as well.

Vocabulary Application

http://digitalpromise.org/2014/07/01/mobile-apps-make-learning-accessible-for-adult-students/

Vocabulary application is a very helpful and powerful application that can greatly enhance the vocabulary of all students, but especially students that do not speak the English language very well. Vocabulary application can be used by students on their personal cell phone and they do not need to be connected to the internet to use the application. However, once connected to the internet, students the information or input to given assignments will automatically be sent to the instructor. This is a benefit application for students to have because they can work on their vocabulary assignments in the comfort of their homes, at work or while traveling learning at their own speed. This affords students the space they need to study and complete their assignment wherever they choose without having their instructors standing over them, asking them questions or having time restraints placed upon them.

Digital Promise, (2014), explains, “It’s a hybrid approach where students can download the word lists and exercises onto their phone or tablet and work on them without needing to be connected to the Internet. Once they’re connected, the quiz results are automatically sent back to the learning management system so teachers can view student progress. Teachers found this helped increase homework completion, giving students a leg up in their class work”, (P.1).

I selected this application because it affords students the personal space they need to study their vocabulary words wherever they choose to. No one will know that they are doing school work; people will simply think they are listening to music or playing a game on their phone.

I would incorporate this application into my practice to enhance the vocabulary of my students and their spelling. This would greatly assist them in writing academic papers. My students would be required to go to the syllabus each week and find the list of vocabulary words for each week, study them, learn them and then prepare for testing.

PBS, (Public Broadcasting Service) is a media organization that educates the public by media. They have a variety of Televisions shows, documentaries, and public service announcements, that can inspire you, educate you, and provide knowledge on every level by way of media. PBS, (2013) explains, “PBS is a membership organization that, with its member stations, serves the American public with programming and services of the highest quality, using media to educate, inspire, entertain and express the diversity of perspectives. PBS empowers individuals to achieve their potential and strengthens the social, democratic and cultural health of the U.S”, (P.1).

                                                         Classroom Clipart

http://www.classroomclipart.com/

A great number of students learn best by illustration or pictures. Often, a great number of students drop out of school because they cannot clearly express themselves. Adult learners with handicaps and other adult learners with disabilities and students that do not have disabilities can learn how to express themselves with Clipart or use Clipart to gain a better understanding of something they are learning.  Classroom Clipart, (n.d.), explains, “Clipart a great source for free clipart for not only for students, teachers and parents, but for everyone. We believe the world around us is our classroom and world’s classroom is open to everyone. We provide a great place for clipart, illustrations and pictures”, (P.1). This media resource may seem to be a bit elementary for some, however, everyone learns on a different level and in many different ways. After all, they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

I would incorporate this resource in my practice so that my students can have another resource in which to clearly express themselves. Pictures help explain what words cannot explain.  Further, I would incorporate it to greatly assist my handicap students and other students with disabilities in that they can access clipart on their computer or other special technology they have to assist them in achieving learning in the best way that fits them.

I choose this technology because Clipart clearly presents another way of learning.
